used to / be used to

used to & be used to 看來很相似，但意思和用法很不同，需小心運用。

used to ：用來表示過去習慣性的動作或狀態，但如今已不存在或不再發生。

例句：

# I used to like chocolate. (以往喜歡，但現在已不那麼喜歡)

# My sister has got short hair now but it used to be very long. (她現在的頭髮是短的，但以前卻很長)

# There used to be two cinemas in my town. Now there is only one.

否定式：

# I didn't use to like my teacher but now I do. (以往不喜歡，但現在卻喜歡)

疑問式：

# What games did you use to play when you were a child? (小時候通常喜歡玩什麼遊戲？)

be used to： 習以為常；對……已感到習慣，或習慣於某事，to 後需加名詞 或動名詞 (-ing)。前面與 verb to be 連用，但亦可改用 get 變成 get used to 。

例句：

# My brother is used to living alone. (他習慣一個人住)

# These are very high heels but I'm sure I'll get used to (wearing) them. (將會習慣穿這些高跟鞋)


否定式：

# He isn't used to living in Hong Kong.


疑問式：

# Are you used to fast food?  (你習慣吃快餐嗎？)

以上 "be / get used to" 的例子亦可用 "be / become accustomed to" 代替，意思是大同小異的。 例如 ：He isn't accustomed to living in Hong Kong.
